A project

The project I am working in righ now is about "Estación Central de Ferrocarriles de Santiago". We had to pick a place in Santiago, anyone we want and work in the collective imaginary of  it. So as I like trains, I choose the Central Station. At first I started to investigate the history of the station , like when it was built  and where is located. I found a lot of pictures about it since the 1800 to now and its amazing to see how long it has been there and that its the same structure since the 1900. The only things that changes of it its the public transport, the trees and the people, but the buildings and the station are the same. I have been working on this project about almost a month and next wendesday is the end of the project. It has not been dificult to make it because I have been able to collect a lot of information and pictures from the internet, like facebook and memoriachilena's website. To the presentation of the project I'm working on an object book in...

Movie

The last movie I watched on a cinema was about a month ago, in Portal Ñuñoa, the movie was "Once upon a time in Hollywood". The main actors were Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. This movie was about an actor and his stunt double trying to get back on track in Hollywood at the 60's in the time when was the murder of Sharon Tate. I really wanted to go to the cimena to watch this movie because I am a big fan of Tarantino and his movies, beside I also like those 3 actors and this was the oportunity to watch them all together in the same movie. Also I knew this was the last movie of Tarantino so I had more that one reason to go and watch it. I really recomended it, because in my opinion its a piece of art, I mean it has a beautiful palette of colours, great music and the outfits of the characters are awesome too.  I went with my boyfriend in a cold night like a month ago as I already wrote, we take the subway to get there and we went back on a bus about 4 a.m. th...

Celebration

Horror Halloween As the date is comming, I´m going to write about 2013's halloween. Of course that day I was preparing my costume for a party in a friend's house, and my mom invited me to lunch in a new peruvian restaurant near our house. It look very fancy and expensive, but we went anyway and celebrate life with fancy drinks the waiter offered us. I don'r remember what she ordered as main dish, but I can remember mine: a ceviche mixto. It was like a big tower of seafood and fish with a lot of ornaments and pretty colours, it was so spectacular I took a picture of it. As desserts we ate suspiro limeño,  a peruvian classic. It was delocious. Well at that time me and my mom are not used to drink so much so we got a little drunk and decided to go home to take a little nap. After we woke up a couple of hours later I started to feel my stomach swollen, but I thought it was for the drinks so I started to drink water. About one or two hours later I had to run to the bathroom, i...

Weather and earthquakes Do you think weather and earthquakes are related? Well I do. The last two earthquakes we had here in Chile (little ones, not the big ones from 2010 or 2015), I think they happened in august, I'm not entirely sure...but the important thing about it is that I predicted them both. Yes, I knew they were going to happen, I mean, not the exact day or hour, but I knew it. I'm sure you are wondering now, how the hell could I possibly knew that? Well, I will tell you my secret. First it started like a simple joke, like we can observe that weather one day is extremely hot and the next day is raining and very cold, that is the first clue, or opposite weather considering the season, like 30°C in august, that's weird don't you think? Well every time I see that happen I say it's going to be an earthquake. Of course nobody believes me, or tells me don't say it because they don't like earthquakes, but I think, as we live in a seismic country like...

18 holidays

The 18 holidays, for me its just a vacation time and an extension to my birthday's celebration. When I was in school, usually my birthday was the last day before the the 18's break so we didn'd have classes, instead of that we ate empanadas and sometimes we perform traditional dances. It is a nice way to spend a birthday when you are little. The next days I usually celebrate my birthday with my family and friends and enjoy the sunny days of september. Generally I go to a fonda to buy a terremoto or chicha to drink and something to eat. I remember when I was a child, me and my family use to go to Parque Intercomunal's fonda in La Reina, had lunch and watched some traditional games, horses,  and people playing with their dogs until my uncle had alergies attack and we had to leave inmediatly. That was an every year story.  This year, I'm goning to my favourite place ever: Tongoy. I don't really know if there are fondas in Tongoy, but really I don't care so mu...
Greatest chilean Today I will write about a chilean I admire, who is Violeta Parra. She was born in San Carlos, Chillán in 1917. She was a singer-songwriter and folklorist. She started singing with her brothers and sister at an early age. In 1932 Violeta moves to Santiago to study at Escuela Normal, but she quits studies to sing with her brothers and sister in barrio Mapocho. She got married for the firs time in 1938 with Luis Cereceda an had two kids. In 1943 she moves with her family to Valparaíso and joins to a theatre company with which goes on tour all over the country.  Her marriage ended ten years later, and left her heatbroken. She contiuned traveling in and out of the country and learned about chilean reality and social inequalaty. Throughout her life she wons several awards and develops as a painter, sculptor, songwriter, embriodery and ceramist. In 1954 she travels to Europe for the first time and stays for two years. There she records her firsts albums wtih her origina...
