Greatest chilean
Today I will write about a chilean I admire, who is Violeta Parra. She was born in San Carlos, Chillán in 1917. She was a singer-songwriter and folklorist. She started singing with her brothers and sister at an early age. In 1932 Violeta moves to Santiago to study at Escuela Normal, but she quits studies to sing with her brothers and sister in barrio Mapocho. She got married for the firs time in 1938 with Luis Cereceda an had two kids. In 1943 she moves with her family to Valparaíso and joins to a theatre company with which goes on tour all over the country. Her marriage ended ten years later, and left her heatbroken. She contiuned traveling in and out of the country and learned about chilean reality and social inequalaty. Throughout her life she wons several awards and develops as a painter, sculptor, songwriter, embriodery and ceramist. In 1954 she travels to Europe for the first time and stays for two years. There she records her firsts albums wtih her original songs and makes a lots of concerts and contacts. Back in Chile, she travels around the country with her kids singing, painting an teaching ceramics, folklore and paint. Sadly in 1967 she decides to end her life in La Reina.
I think she was important because is a referent to all artists, and teach us that no matter where you are or if you become famous you should never forget where are you from.
